Carlisle Extended Day programs

The Programs

CEDP is available to children for socialization as well as for coverage while parents work.

All programs are available on a full-time or part-time basis. A minimum attendance of two days is recommended.

Preschool

Carlisle Early Literacy Preschool is a new program for children ages 2 years, 9 months through prekindergarten.

Before School

7:30-8:40 a.m.

Understanding the need of some working parents to be at their place of work before the school bus arrives, the Carlisle Extended Day Program has devised an early morning activity.

This service before regular school hours offers a relaxed atmosphere designed to help phase your child into his/her school day. Each day the teachers escort the children to the top of the driveway and wait with them for the school bus to arrive.

Kindergarten

12:00-3:00 p.m.
12:00-6:15 p.m.

Kindergarteners can participate in the mid-day program as well as the late afternoon program. Parents do not have to leave work or their daily social activities to pick up their children from school. This enables the parents to pursue their own activities and not have to face the complication of transporting their children. This mid-day program offers:

Supervised lunch, indoor and outdoor activities
Quiet time
Daily story time

After School

2:15-6:15 p.m. (gr. 5&up)
3:00-6:15 p.m. (gr. 1-4)

This program is structured to transition your child from the school environment to the home environment. The children are transported by the school bus to CEDP's house and are greeted by their respective teacher. The highlights of this popular program are:

Supervised play and activities utilizing a multiple intelligence approach – indoors and out: story times, crafts, cooking, science projects, homework club, music practice, sports, field trips and special seasonal events.

Drop-in

If space is available, children may attend CEDP on an hourly, as-needed basis. This service requires pre-registration and some advance notice.

Vacation Weeks

Special programs are available during the Winter Break, February and April vacation weeks. During these times, coverage is available from 7:30am-6:15pm. These weeks are always a great time and are full of field trips, presenters, and special theme days.

Holiday Coverage

Carlisle Extended Day will be open this year on the following holidays: Columbus Day (October 9), Veteran's Day (November 10), Martin Luther King Day (January 15), President's Day (February 19), and Patriot's Day (April 16). Our programs will be available 7:30am-6:15pm and will feature guest presenters and themed activities.

Unscheduled School Closings

In the event that Carlisle Public School is closed due to inclement weather or a safety issue in the building, Carlisle Extended Day will be open 8am-6:15pm. You can register in advance or call the morning of each school closing to see if space is available. Note: If your child is not already registered in our programs, the forms will have to be filled out BEFORE your child comes to the program for a day.
